Dan Glickman was born in Queens, NY and raised in the suburbs of New York City. Being brought up close to such a cultural and creative epicenter enabled him to become familiar with various forms and styles of artistic expression. From an early age, Dan was encouraged to develop his talents. Throughout his teens, he studied privately with professional artist Philip Herman and focused his abilities on studying anatomy and drawing the human form. A study of photography led Dan to pursue film making at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Participating in this prestigious program exposed Dan to many forms of film mediums including animation. During his study of animation, he was introduced to model making and learned popular sculpting techniques as he created clay puppets for his short animated films. It was while making these puppets that Dan truly discovered his love for sculpting. Soon after graduation Dan followed a life long dream of moving to the snow covered mountains of Colorado. It was here that he was afforded the time and tranquility needed to hone his sculpting skills. Living and loving in these beautiful surroundings led Dan to convey his most compelling moments through sculpture. Comforting, intimate, and passionate, Dan's Lovers Series intends to transport the viewer into each of these poses so they too may experience a remarkable moment in time shared with the one they love . . . or the one they long to. |
